Dutch e-bike brand VanMoof has just released a limited-edition S3 Aluminum frame that celebrates electric riding with a streamlined form. The premium S3 Aluminum was released on August 18 in a limited number of raw-cut bikes, the manufacturer announced, purchased directly from the bike maker.
This is the first time the brand has dropped a unique S3 colorway, VanMoof says. But they aim to make the bike more than a collector’s item. It’s a performance bike that captures the essence of the VanMoof brand’s history of bike design. Every element of a VanMoof bike is essential, the designers say, but elevated to the highest standard. The foundational idea of VanMoof is that there is beauty in simplicity while creating bikes that last with use over time.

The earliest designs from VanMoof were non-electric bikes. “VanMoof’s design philosophy has always been grounded in one indisputable truth: that the joy of riding a bike lies in its simplicity,” says Jonathan Hum, CMO of VanMoof. The bike maker is known for setting new standards in the industry while keeping design elements simple.
Further, the S3 Aluminum has a beautiful brushed aluminum frame and the brand’s signature raw welding. A black LED Matrix Display shows speed, battery level and power assist level. The handlebars are also fully integrated, and there is a one-piece saddle seat. Additionally, the signature black tires are 28 inches. Meanwhile, the branding is subtle and located on the top tube just like the M1 — the first straight frame made by VanMoof in 2009.
The S3 Aluminum presents the much-loved tech and features of the Red Dot award-winning VanMoof S3. These features include an ultra silent front motor, integrated Kick-Lock, powerful Turbo Boost, long-range battery and also VanMoof’s signature anti-theft tech.
Sustainable motor technology includes a silent front motor, Turbo Boost power mode, long-range battery, anti-theft technology and integrated Kick-Lock. As for the price, the bike is $2,648 and is available in the U.S., the Netherlands, France and Germany.
