BioRomper: a safe, fashionable, eco-friendly outfit for travel

The last year has made most people more germ-conscious than ever before. Most of us have become paranoid about things we used to take for granted. Hugs and handshakes? Uh, no. Flying on a plane sounds completely out of the question to many people. For those who want to up their safety game beyond hand sanitizers and masks, there’s a new coverall bodysuit called BioRomper. Noah Friedman, Arielle Crawford, Ed McCabe and Evan Boyd launched the new product last October. They had seen images of super-cautious travelers boarding airplanes in hazmat suits — understandable, but not a good look. So they partnered with a designer in New York City to make a travel-safe suit that was attractive, comfortable and effective. Being eco-conscious folks, it was important to them that they use high-quality recycled materials and skip the plastic packaging. Research continues to unravel plastic industry recycling lies

A new study has proven once more that plastic recycling is a lie. According to American Chemistry Council data, only 14% of all plastic is recycled. The data further shows that 16% is incinerated and 70% ends up dumped into landfills. These findings underscore a 2020 report by  NPR  that discussed how the plastics industry has lied to the public about the possibility of plastic recycling . For many years, the public has been led to believe that sorting plastic waste in a certain manner could help with the recycling process. Related: Oil and plastic industry spent millions to mislead the public about plastic recycling In the 1980s, the plastic industry was in trouble following public concern over plastic pollution . As a result, plastic industry players devised a way of staying in the market. This entailed a $50 million per year advertising campaign, encouraging consumers to recycle. As a result, the public was made to believe that plastics with a recyclable badge could be recycled

Easy, meaningful ways to celebrate Arbor Day

Back in April 1872, citizens of Nebraska City, Nebraska gathered to plant trees in hopes of making the flat, Midwestern plains more inviting to settlers. The trees provided shade, building materials and, of course, beauty. It didn’t take long for the tree-planting event to spread, and in 1885, the state set April 22 as the date of Arbor Day. In other parts of the country, school children planted trees honoring historical events and figures. Now, Arbor Day is observed on the last Friday in April in most states. However, some states have shifted the date to coincide with better tree-planting weather . For example, Florida celebrates Arbor Day early, on the third Friday in January. Snowy Alaska waits until the third Monday in May. Other countries have similar celebrations. Architects build contemporary estate in Poland around an established garden

Instead of purchasing expensive, large trees to place around a newly built residence, this property’s owner decided to reverse the traditional order of home-building by landscaping before building the house. The client planned and planted the garden, letting the plants establish themselves and reach their full potential before even beginning construction. This way, he could enjoy the landscape right after moving into the Polish estate, rather than waiting for the plants and trees to reach their target size. Foliage can provide better air quality in the urban setting. Not only that, but waiting until the trees and shrubs have reached their full height provides more shade cover, reducing energy costs for the home. As an homage to the unique progression of the project, the architects at KWK Promes decided to call it “From the Garden House.” Related: This modern home built to house a renowned art collection is a work of art in itself The home’s contemporary concrete facade gives it

35 Easy And Healthy Dinner Ideas For Kids

Parents jokingly say that the most challenging part about raising kids is deciding what’s for dinner. While it’s funny, there’s also a lot of truth to it. Kids can be picky. They love something one day and despise it the next. They also don’t care if something is healthy or not. And good luck ever getting dinner “right” if you have more than one kid. More kids equal more opinions. What can busy parents do to get their kids to eat healthy meals? How can mealtime be easier? First, you might be wondering if new recipes will even help. Picky eaters are good at refusing anything and everything. Kid-friendly meals won’t be beneficial if your child isn’t open to new things. Even kids that aren’t overly picky tend to shy away from new foods. Ironically, they also hate eating the same things over and over. So, what’s the best way to overcome meal-time frustration? Make it fun! Distract kids with a bit of creativity. They’ll be more likely to eat if everyone is relaxed and enjoying the meal.
